Spring Pickings | 春の花摘み

〜 ミモザのミニガーランドで飾る、春の花の可愛いバスケットアレンジ 〜

みなさま、こんにちは。サリーです。

暖冬の影響で、花が例年より早く咲き出している気がします。春の花は可愛らしいものが多くて、花好きにとっては嬉しい季節ですね！

今回のレッスンでは、キュートなバスケットアレンジを作ります。フリフリのパンジー、ふわふわなラナンキュラス、人気者のミモザなどを使います。お庭から摘み取った花をさりげなくバスケットにアレンジするような気持ちで、吸水性スポンジに挿していきます。

バスケットの花が咲き終わった後も、綺麗にドライフラワーになるミモザをより長く飾っていただけるように、ミニガーランドにしてバスケットに添えます。

ご自宅用はもちろん、ギフトとしても喜ばれると思います。

Perhaps it is because of the warm winter this year, but it seems that the flowers are coming into bloom much earlier than usual. There are so many pretty spring flowers, so it's truly a great season for those of us that love flowers!

For this lesson we will make a cute basket arrangement.  On the menu are frilly pansies, airy ranunculus, and the ever-popular mimosa to name a few.  The flowers are inserted into floral foam just as if they had been picked freshly from the garden and arranged casually in a basket.

As mimosa dries very well, we will make it into a mini garland so it can be enjoyed long after the flowers in the basket have finished.

Of course the basket can be enjoyed at home but also makes a great gift.

「New Year Origami」

〜 折り紙で楽しむクールなお正月飾り 〜

みなさま、こんにちは。サリーです。

クリスマスリース作り、楽しんでいただけましたでしょうか？レッスンでたくさんの方にお会いできてとても嬉しかったです。どうもありがとうございました。

少し早いのですが、令和元年最後のレッスンはドアや壁にかけられるお正月飾りです。

今回は日本の伝統文化の一つである折り紙で可愛い器を作ります。

お正月にふさわしい松と華やかな花や実物を入れて、玄関に飾られるように細長い板につけていきます。

アクセントには、葉牡丹の葉、細竹や水引を使います。

器の位置を変えたりすることも可能ですので、縦飾り、横飾りも楽しんでいただけます。

I hope you enjoyed the Xmas wreath workshop.  It was great to meet so many of you! Thanks again for your participation.

It’s a little early, but for the last lesson of 2019 we’re going to make a New Year decoration to hang on the door or wall.

This time we will incorporate the traditional Japanese craft of ‘origami’ to make some cute containers.

We will arrange pine and other gorgeous flowers and berries well suited to the New Year and secure to a long, narrow plank so the decoration can be displayed at the entrance.

Ornamental cabbage leaves, Japanese paper string ‘mizuhiki’ and thin bamboo provide accent points.

The position of the containers can be adjusted to create portrait or landscape designs as desired.

「Nostalgic Xmas

〜 美しいヒバに宿る実物と生花の大人スタイリッシュなクリスマスリース 〜

みなさま、こんにちは。サリーです。

先日、ものの整理をしていたら、アルバムが出てきて、昔の写真をめくることになりました。（ちなみに毎回こうなるので、整理はいつまでたっても進まないのでうが…（笑））

中には懐かしい実家のクリスマス飾りの写真も含まれていて、その影響で、今年のクリスマスリースはノスタルジックな雰囲気を出すことに決めました。

 

美しく、香りのいいヒバ類と、シックな色合いの実物たちでフレッシュリースを作ります。アクセントに自然の枝を加えましょう。一輪の生花も添えて仕上げます。

 

このナチュラルリースは徐々にドライになり、クリスマスが過ぎても、長く飾っていただけます。また、季節やご気分に合わせて生花を変えて、フレッシュとドライの組み合わせもぜひお楽しみください。

The other day when I was sorting out various stuff, I came across some old albums and of course ended up browsing through the old photos. (That happens every time, so needless to say the sorting out never progresses!)

Amongst the photos were ones of old Xmas decorations at home, which made me decide to give a nostalgic feel to this year’s Xmas wreath.

The wreath is made with beautiful and aromatic conifers together with various chic-coloured berries. A branch provides a natural accent. The wreath is finished off with the addition of a single fresh flower.

This natural wreath will gradually dry over time and so can be enjoyed long after Xmas is over. Moreover, you can change the fresh flower to match the season or your particular mood, so I hope you will enjoy the unique combination of fresh and dry flowers.

​Finally it’s getting a little cooler and it feels like autumn is just around the corner.

By popular request, the flower box arrangement is back on the lesson menu!

This time we will focus on creating an elegant box using early autumn flowers in tasteful shades of pink and purple.

The specially textured trim adds a unique decorative touch and you can choose from 2-3 different colours.

The flower box can of course be enjoyed at home but also makes a perfect gift!
